(500) Days of ... Who?

Quite recently I have been compared to Summer ... as in, (500) Days of. Not just once has someone made this comment. While I adore Zooey Deschanel, I am wary to accept the comparison as a compliment. In the movie, the character of Summer is interesting, quirky, entertaining, even captivating. But, she is also cynical, sarcastic, and sort of melancholy. In the end, she completely breaks Tom's heart in a brutal sort of way.
Here is the New York Times description:
"Or so it seems to Tom, an unapologetic believer in true love, soul mates and other touchstones of greeting card mythology (and romantic comedy ideology). Summer is skeptical of such notions and refuses to promise commitment or even consistency, but she does seem to want more and more of Tom’s company, and this leads him to believe that her carefully maintained barriers to intimacy are beginning to fall."

Regardless, the movie has a killer soundtrack including Feist, Doves, Regina Spektor, Simon & Garfunkel, and The Smiths. The music selection plays perfectly with Tom's jumpy, non-linear recollection of Summer.
