I can hardly believe it is 2010. Last year was such a blur that it didnt feel time to start a new one. But, its here. So, here we go.
After much though my new years resolutions are simple:
1. Find things that make me happy and do them.
2. Not to worry about the things I can't control. It's mostly in my head anyways.
3. Work on being more decisive.
4. Find a balance.
5. Do as much as possible. Live without regret.
To start off my 2010 soundtrack:

It sounds like summer. Can you feel it?
Listen.
This song makes me melt.
"Toss up
So you'll fall asleep
cook you dinner
but you would not eat
your sharp mouth forgets when you swore
god damn, you wouldn't do it again
but i
bend back
with an eye
for love
and I take it on the chin
and the patch you up
but all these years, my feet
asleep
move them around
that they might breathe
and oh, so little time
i, i have gone old
this shock
this shock and awe
come back to see me
i know they have a rainy
season
come back to see me
i know they have a rainy
season
you
you are mine
so i never would mind
i work my arms so hard
just to give you an airplane ride."

"A long december and there's reason to believe, maybe this year will be better than the last"
All i want is to move back out. For college to start back. I only have 4 days but it seems like an eternity. Yesterday night I had Becca's birthday party. We met her friends at the bowling alley then they came back to the house to make smores and watch Harry Potter. We were all standing in the kitchen and heard a loud bang from the garage. I opened the door and dad had ran his car into the wall, putting two huge holes in the sheetrock. I wonder if he will ever admit that there is a problem.
"You are calm and reposed, let your beauty unfold. Pale white like the skin stretched over your bones. Spring keeps you ever close, you are second hand smoke. You are so fragile and thin, standing trial for your sins. Holding on to yourself the best you can. You are the smell before rain, you are the blood in my veins.
Call me a safe bet, I'm betting I'm not. I'm glad that you can forgive. I'm only hoping as time goes on you can forget. "

A late Merry Christmas.
This week as been interesting. this weather and time of year does something funny to me. and i'm incredibly ready to move back to school.
Today's Playlist:
- Anya Marina ... "Satellite Heart"
- Best Coast ... "Sun Was High (So Was I)"
- Telekinesis ... "Coast of Carolina"
- Regina Spektor ... "Eet"
- The Soft Pack ... "C'Mon"
- Bon Iver & St. Vincent ... "Rosyln"
This last song; goosebumps. Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Annie Clark of St. Vincent decided to work together after meeting at Bonnaroo and realizing they were fans of one another. Beautiful hardly describes "Rosyln". Actually, nothing I say will do justice to this song. So .... listen for yourself.
Anyways, seeing Laura tomorrow. time to get out of my head.

(500) Days of ... Who?
Quite recently I have been compared to Summer ... as in, (500) Days of. Not just once has someone made this comment. While I adore Zooey Deschanel, I am wary to accept the comparison as a compliment. In the movie, the character of Summer is interesting, quirky, entertaining, even captivating. But, she is also cynical, sarcastic, and sort of melancholy. In the end, she completely breaks Tom's heart in a brutal sort of way.
Here is the New York Times description:
"Or so it seems to Tom, an unapologetic believer in true love, soul mates and other touchstones of greeting card mythology (and romantic comedy ideology). Summer is skeptical of such notions and refuses to promise commitment or even consistency, but she does seem to want more and more of Tom’s company, and this leads him to believe that her carefully maintained barriers to intimacy are beginning to fall."Regardless, the movie has a killer soundtrack including Feist, Doves, Regina Spektor, Simon & Garfunkel, and The Smiths. The music selection plays perfectly with Tom's jumpy, non-linear recollection of Summer.
